This article really opened my eyes to what healthcare is really about... Money. I've been blessed with good insurance but even after paying more than $300 a month for the "good kind" of insurance, I still have to pay $800 or more out of pocket for certain things. So far, I haven't encountered a problem with being billed twice or getting charged for something that never happened, but this problem is happening more and more every year. The American Hospital Association created 'The Patient Bill of Rights' in the 1970's and amended it in 1992. This bill of rights was written so that people have the right to be treated properly no matter their financial situation and given the proper healthcare treatment. Since this was written, states have been given the ability to redefine and rewrite these rights, leaving our current rules in healthcare confusing. I strongly agree that there should be a financial bill of rights in healthcare for everyone so that patients know what their being charged for, how their being charged, and when. Payment in full needs to be addressed with or without a patients request. In the article, the author explains an incident with someone being billed for a circumcision that was never performed. When you pay someone to rebuild your bathroom and they decide to build a patio instead, that's fraud. This problem doesn't matter regarding healthcare because they're helping and healing and mistakes keep being made without progress towards a solution. So when you've been falsely charged for something that never happened, the process of fixing that situation puts patients in a completely different complicated position. So why can't this financial grey area be addressed?
I completely agree with your post about higher ranked government officials forfeiting their social media accounts. If it's impossible to keep them from posting on social media at all, they somehow need to be heavily regulated. When the president posts on social media, not only is it unprofessional, it is also raising concerns about poor mental health. This is a major loss of credibility, a big step backward for America and for the development our government needs. The posts on Twitter by Donald Trump is indefinitely giving people the wrong idea of authority and become a very poor influence towards society. This controversy needs to be appropriately addressed before things escalate and get more out of hand.
